Elevator Permitting in Miami-Dade County
Miami-Dade County's Office of Elevator Safety acts in place of the State of Florida for elevator permitting throughout the county except the City of Miami and City of Miami Beach. It issues permits for construction, alterations, modernization and repairs, plus Certificates of Operation. The building department still receives a separate hoistway and structural permit application; state licensing of inspectors, contractors and technicians remains with Florida.
Florida's statewide framework includes Chapter 399, Florida Statutes; Chapter 30 of the Florida Building Code; and Florida Administrative Code 61C-5.
