    Broward County Building Code Services — Elevator Section

    Broward County is a contracted elevator jurisdiction under Florida Statutes 399.13. Its elevator section regulates more than 11,000 elevating devices countywide and issues permits for new installations and alterations. The hoistway or structural building permit is a separate city or county building-department submittal; Broward's elevator section handles the elevator permit and Certificate of Operation. State licensing still governs who may install or repair the device.

    Florida's statewide framework includes Chapter 399, Florida Statutes; Chapter 30 of the Florida Building Code; and Florida Administrative Code 61C-5.
